2015 Contests for Young Adult Writers
In less than 2 months 2014 will be gone. Forever.For my part I will spend last days of this year finishing a new manuscript (a YA summer camp themed romantic comedy). I will also be contemplating whether or not to enter said manuscript in a writing contest. To get warmed up I compiled a list of writing competitions that caught my eye.
Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award
Amazon.com's yearly manuscript competition which includes a YA category.In 2014 Amazon received about 10,000 entries. They chose a finalist from each of the five fiction categories, all of which received an Amazon publishing contract and a $15,000 advance. Of the five finalists, they select a Grand Prize winner who received a $50,000 advance.2015 Deadline: TBA - usually February
Writer’s Digest Annual Writing Competition
Writer's Digest yearly manuscript competition which includes a YA category.They hand out ten prizes. The first place receives $1,000 in cash and $100 off a purchase from the Writer’s Digest Shop.2015 Deadline: November
YARWA
YARWA, the Young Adult Romance Writers of America, sponsors the Rosemary Award for unpublished manuscripts. Categories include Contemporary, Historical, Paranormal, Fusion and New Adult.Finalists receive a website badge, an ad in RWR, and a free YARWA class of their choice.2015 Deadline: TBA - usually March
Serendipity Literary Agency
Serendipity Literary Agency holds several contests a year including a YA manuscript contest and a memoir contest.
